Following the Glass Pagoda exhibition during Salone del Mobile 2017, this year JCP is glad to return to the grounds of Rho Fiera with Odeum, a metaphysical theatre showcasing the creations coming from its cosmos. JCP aims to transform normality, giving new meanings to objects of everyday life, in a fusion between art and design.
JCP was created in 2015, by an idea of the architect Livio Ballabio. Brainchild of a radical think tank of creatives, the brand was developed in collaboration with CTRLZAK Studio, founded by Katia Meneghini and Thanos Zakopoulos. The creative direction was entrusted to them once again this year.
In the occasion of Milan Design Week 2018, JCP wants to illuminate its universe with a star of design: the master of light Nanda Vigo. JCP will present Sun-Ra, a collection of lamps that the artist designed exclusively for the brand. Together with her lightning sculptures will be showcased the “wonder-objects” designed by Matteo Cibic, the ironic and playful creations of Samer Alameen and a series of smaller pieces, hiding special surprises, signed by CTRLZAK and Richard Yasmine, confirming thus JCP’s international approach.
This year’s cosmic installation orchestrated by CTRLZAK, Odeum, will be the setting for JCP’s new artifacts. Within a specially conceived setup, the exhibition takes the form of a metaphysical theatre, transporting the visitor in another dimension through an intriguing game between light and shadow, where every object transforms itself, revealing new forms and unexpected functions.
JCP’s eclectic identity is confirmed through its multidisciplinary approach: not just design, but art in all of its forms and expressions. Once again, the rules are broken and the boundaries are crossed, giving life to intriguing pieces that aim to go beyond mere appearances.
At Fuorisalone JCP will participate with an exhibition dedicated to Nanda Vigo, in partnership with Adolfo Carrara Studio Design. Within the 5vie district, that this year will place special focus on the work of Nanda Vigo, JCP will present Sun-Ra, a collection of lighting sculptures that the artist designed especially for the JCP Universe. The lucent creations of the milan-based artist will be the protagonists of the scene, representing the perfect synthesis of her costant research in the relation between space and light. The exhibition will take place at via Santa Marta 10, starting from Tuesday, April 17.
