The Sofia Hotel in Barcelona, previously known as the Gran Hotel Princesa Sofia, opened in the 1970s and became an icon of exclusivity.Even the recognizable futuristic outline of its building is now an unmistakable part of the Barcelona skyline.
The Sofia Hotel we can now admire in Avenida Diagonal is the result of a full refurbishment started in October 2016 and lasted until the beginning of 2018, when all areas of the hotel have been finally opened to the public.
With this relaunch, the hotel wants to offer its guests an incomparable experience in terms of cuisine, design, attention to detail and digitalization of facilities.
Albert Blanch and the SBC studio carried out the architectural project and interior design of the hotel, while the rooms were designed by the Selenta Group’s interior design team.
The hotel features 447 rooms and 18 designer suites, divided into different accommodation options: Wish, So Suite, Infinity, Sphere and Harmony.
Billiani’s Hippy chairs and lounge chairs and Grapevine tables have been selected for Sphere rooms, characterized by furniture featuring modern lines, and Harmony rooms, with a balanced, harmonious interior design.
Designed by architect and designer Emilio Nanni, Hippy seating matches up the upholstered shell with a turned beech base and includes within its elegance that informal touch which renders it eclectic and multi-faceted.Grapevine tables (designed by architect Egidio Panzera) selected for this project have walnut-stained beechwood frame and walnut top.
